Bill Clinton is the Nick Saban of politics. I cannot add too much to that first sentence. Everyone knows what I mean.
You might not like his affiliations but you sure love “The Process.” The man knows how to explain his passion. He owns the room. He can connect in a way no one else can. He respects the intellect of everyone from the guy that cleans the car to the teacher who improves the minds of all our children, without acting like a professor or know it all. Politics is his natural-born gift from God. Same thing with Nick Saban. He perfected “The Process.”Unless you have watched Nick Saban in action, you can not appreciate the talents of this man. He tells you right up front, successful teams make it with every person doing his very best on every play. Our politicians need to take a course from Nick. We are team United States of America, we each have a place and we each have something to contribute to the success of the country.
President Clinton‘s words reminded me last night, I cannot rest on my contented life. Michelle Obama said the same thing. I need to do more. Everyone of us needs to do just a little more. We can give up the selfish moments of our days when we only look at the world in the images of on our own situation, we can try to focus on the good of others.
It is time to twist the discussion to a different plea. Let’s try to make a promise to ourselves, yes even you. Let’s try for one whole day to be a better listener. For one day, accept that others might have a different piece of the puzzle. Let us realize that we are going to be ok. Our country is going to survive this economic time because we are ready to fix it together. Not alone. We are going to do it together. Go buy one American made product. It could be a pencil. It could be a stamp to add to a letter to someone we merely want to acknowledge we care about. Do it.
Share that idea. Get back and tell me right here what you did to make America great, one little step at a time. I look forward to seeing the results. If you are too shy to tell me about you efforts, fine, tell someone else. I promise it will make us feel more proud of our country than all the bitter discussions we are engaging in to express our frustrations. Let’s be together as Americans.
Bill Clinton showed us last night , we cannot rest on our individual laurels. We have to play as a team. Nick Saban has three National Championships to prove it works. Bill Clinton has a place in history for helping us have a balanced budget and the most prosperous economy in the world. Those guys KNOW what they are talking about, they are the best in their fields.
Take a knee. Now stand and shake hands. Roll Tide.
